My Lyfestyle Through Lyrics
It amazes me the choice of music that is played in department stores, grocery stores and other public places. Advertising and Marketing firms have all this research stating that specific kind of music will make shoppers buy more. Sorry, not this shopper! My headphones are on. Too bad the day I ran (I hate public bathrooms. That’s a blog for another day.) into the women’s bathroom of a big chain electronic store, I didn’t have them on. As I quickly relieved myself (yes, it was a number one. #tmi) and headed over to the sink, I recognized the tune playing aloud in the bathroom: Snoop Dogg’s – Drop It Like It’s Hot. Of all the songs playing at that moment, Drop It Like It’s Hot was on? I laughed at the irony. As I stood at the hand dryers, a toilet flushed. I assumed it was the automated toilet flusher, but out came a woman from the furthest stall in the facility. As she adjusted her clothing, she was startled that I was in the restroom. Hello, did you not hear me run in here like the dickens, relieve myself like a firehose and flush my toilet? She must’ve been in deep concentration. So, I just smiled, but inside my head I was thinking “somebody dropped it like it’s hot and it wasn’t me”. Just as quickly as I ran in the restroom, I ran out because I wasn’t trying to be blamed for the stinch left behind in there. Poor woman. I ran into two other women headed into the restroom. They weren’t in as much a rush as I was; looked like there were other women who had plans of dropping things like they were hot as well.
